PHOTO PROMPT © Roger Bultot for Rochelle’s Friday Fictioneers. Other stories featuring the prompt can be found here.
Note: Visited my novel story world again this week. Something about that fabulous window!
\In the dirty old part of the city, headquarters stands, unassuming and hidden from the spotlight. On paper, a tax dodge, a write off. The outside shabby, dirty. The inside a different story; home to high tech, shiny floors. A modern interior. The haven provides safety for the underground movement. Operations secret. A vault contains weapons and forbidden substances, items only seen on the black market. The Rebels source their materials directly; phoenix feathers, unicorn shavings, metals, and gems. All forbidden by the laws of The Guardians. Disarm any resistance under the guise of protecting humans. Time for a new world order. Let the final battle begin.
This illustrates the power of other stories. You don’t tell us who the rebels are, or the guardians. But we know. Clever sourcing

Well narrated. Covert operations.
The world must shudder and have to pay a heavy price if and when the “final battle” does take place…

A tangential sign known only to those who became off-shoots of the greater mind. To everyone else – just an odd window.

I like the way you use staccato sentences to generate a feeling of restless anticipation.

It’s interesting how sentence structure can change the tone. Fun to play around with.

One is nearly breathless after racing through your effectively short sentences. Clever way to build anticipation and suspense.

Banning Phoenix feathers and unicorn shavings is a good call.
This is a good teaser for your larger body of work.

For The Guardians yes, not The Phoenix they genocide. Power corrupts. Good intentions turn bad. Lots to play with as the writer.

A great front has been created. Who would suspect such a such inside of a building with such less than shiny exterior.

Reminds me of the Resistance during WWII. Does this mean that history will repeat itself?

Pretty sure it will. People fight hard when they have nothing to lose.

Great story. The novel will be quite engaging, I’m sure.

This one has been an amazing organic experience. Makes the other novels I have worked on, while engaging, pale in comparison.

Oh the power of Phoenix feathers… I’m sure there is a supply of Dragon Heartstring there… as well as proper wand wood.
