A return to Greek Mythology again… Can’t seem to help myself. This self contained story features The Isles of the Blessed.

The stained glass pendant, blurred her eyes as she stared. Moisture ran down her face. Why did life have to be so hard?

Her mother always said, dolphins delivered messages to the other side, the Isles of the Blessed. The kingdom housed heroes in the afterlife. Worthy, pure souls destined to serve and protect the living if an occasion ever arose.

The world bleak. The elite self-serving clowns. The world cried out for heroes. And yet she wasted her time thinking of what could be and should be. A chill crept through her being.

Wind chimes rattled in the distance, whispering an answer. Time for the heroes to rise; starting with herself.

    1. We’ve all been there 😀. The general understanding of the story is, people look for outside forces, God, angels etc (or in this case Greek heroes) to save them, when really we can become hero’s ourselves and fight for change.

      Thanks G!

    1. I tend to think it depends. One can be practical but that doesn’t mean one will stand up and push back against the system and put their jobs/safety/love ones in jeopardy. To me that’s a true hero. Pragmatism would go a long way though.

Thanks for your thoughtful comment Liz!

  1. We could use some heroes right about now.

I’m digging the Greek Mythology stories. My best friend is heavily into Greek and Egyptian Mythology. I’ve learned a lot from her. It’s fun and interesting stuff.

The Muse likes her ego stroked, leave a comment and she'll do the same... unless there is a glitch... or human error...
