Flash Fiction: Choo-choo

The train choo-chooed through the wilderness, weaving up and down, dodging trees. The gentle rocking waves soothing. The windows blurred with green, in time with the wheels in motion.

The vehicle approached the end of the track. Doom neared. Her wheels departed from the tracks and launched in the air. What goes up must fall down. An eerie silence filled the cabins as wings flapped and guided passengers to the ground. Cheers erupted.

  1. Oh, I DID like this one. A happy story, much needed in this cold, snowy weather. Something to read to the kiddos from the neighborhood who show up to sled on the slope behind our townhome. I’ll make a batch of hot cocoa and regale them with this tale today. 🙂

      1. I looked them up, and I guess I must have had one once! I won a bonsai tree in a raffle and placed tiny benches and flowers and even at one point a tiny Yoda figure under the tree! I managed to kill the tree (chronic brown thumb) but I miss my little “space”. Are the ones in Australia in pots or outside? I have no luck with outside gardens either, but I may try another Yoda!

      2. That space sounds lovely. A chill out zone.
I think here most are outside and fairy figures etc are added. Although sometimes I think adults just pick a spot in the garden and claim fairies live there to appease children or to con them into doing gardening. 😀
