Flash Fiction: Choo-choo

The train choo-chooed through the wilderness, weaving up and down, dodging trees. The gentle rocking waves soothing. The windows blurred with green, in time with the wheels in motion.

The vehicle approached the end of the track. Doom neared. Her wheels departed from the tracks and launched in the air. What goes up must fall down. An eerie silence filled the cabins as wings flapped and guided passengers to the ground. Cheers erupted.

Oh, I DID like this one. A happy story, much needed in this cold, snowy weather. Something to read to the kiddos from the neighborhood who show up to sled on the slope behind our townhome. I’ll make a batch of hot cocoa and regale them with this tale today. 🙂
