Hey there, my wonderful reader. Today’s challenge write a drabble. Drabbles are teeny-tiny stories (100 words for your reading pleasure). Today’s baby story must contain the word sluggard and a cabbin in the woods.

The writer struggled with her looming deadline. She was such a bloody sluggard.

Inspiration hit. She rented a secluded cabin in the woods for a distraction-free night. The cabin reminded her of the one featured in her murder mystery.

Blissfully alone, she opened her laptop at the kitchen table and tapped away as the sun fell.

“Her stomach fell apart like grated cheese.”

Heavy-eyed, she fell into bed. The wind whistled against the window like fingertips tapping. Outside leaves crunched. A shadow dashed past.

Her stomach churned. She wasn’t alone. Or was she?

Her book became her reality.

What do you think? Did the writer freak herself out with an overactive imagination? Or was she being stalked? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

 1. The story is perfect the way it stands. You’ve done well, coercing readers into filling in the missing pieces themselves. That’s great writing.
