Hey there, my wonderful reader. Today’s challenge is to write a drabble. Drabbles are teeny-tiny stories (100 words for your reading pleasure). Today’s baby story must contain the word gleam and a fly on your neighbour’s wall.
Flush.
The door opens. The bedroom fills with an artificial gleam.
Bzzz. Bzzz.
A fresh bake. Something died! I flap my wings and rub my hands.
On the bed, the covers move. The body cocoons itself from head to toe.
Now or never, I make a break for the light.
Shhh. Shhh.
Spraycan.
Abort. Abort.
The shadows embrace me again. Bastardised lavender dominates the room, cloaking the glorious shit.
The second human flops onto the bed. No cocoon for them; they lay exposed. Inviting me.
Zzz. Zzz.
A moist opening — perfect! I’ll share my eggs! What else are neighbours for?
