They call The Malefica witches… or worse. Their mystique is charming, yet terrifying. From time to time, the locals point fingers burning for a witch hunt, while holding no qualms begging for services — the sick need healing, the cheaters need cursing, and the living need answers from the dead.
The dwellings of The Malefica are as peculiar as can be. The shadows whisper and lights flicker. Doorways turn into shrines, and every room pulsates with energy.
WARNING: never enter the attic.
Inside, dollhouses, town replicas, collect dust, waiting to be populated. All The Malefica need is a finger bone… or few.

Story Background
The Malefica are a faction in my ImmorTales series. I consider the series to be Game of Thrones played by immortals — everyone wants to rule the world! The Malefica have their own culture and motivations. Many of them work with the dead and crave immortality, which is forbidden by The Guardians (self-appointed protectors of humans).
Sounds like they’re providing a necessary service.

Exactly, enemies always need hexing.

Reminds of a scene in “Beetlejuice” movie from many years ago…. a train set up village, if I recall. Great story.

“Beetlejuice” is a great film. I should watch it again. I did see a doll house village/town but limited words became an issue.
Thanks, B

I totally get the word issue. I had to cut off my story this week for the same.

Best not to get on the bad side of the Malefica, I’m guessing!

Yes, if you want to remain curse free.

Thanks, L. It’s amazing what these prompts bring out. Once I see something, I can’t “unsee”.

I’d keep my hands in my pockets around this crew. None of my finger bones for them!

That might be a good idea. 😀

I like this, T! Makes me think of Practical Magic – they were judged until they were needed.
That said, keep your digits to yourselves!

I loved “Practical Magic”. The Muse probably stole some elements. Not all Malefica are bad, but it only takes a few.
Thanks, D.

Me too! I watch it anytime it’s on TV! And right, not all should be put in the same boat!
My pleasure, T

The witches seem like a helpful crew when their skills are required, but I wouldn’t like to encroach on the attic–just in case.

Good and bad in everything. But yeah stay away from the attic.

I can picture this.. maybe a light glowing from under the closed door…and oh the temptation to see what’s inside. But stay away from the attic! Sticky fingers beware! Great story 🙂

Nice world/faction building, T. FF can be a good place to take characters on a test run or introduce them.
