The Fairy Godmother sipped on her pumpkin spice latte. The bells on the door to her workshop rattled.
“Shit.”
Cindy barged in, a huge smile on her face. “I can’t believe the Hollywood gala is in a few hours.”
Tonight? No way. The Fairy Godmother tapped her phone for the date. Double shit and three blind mice. As her mind raced she hid behind her tumbler. Only the outer layer, a sheer number, was ready.
The Fairy Godmother snapped her fingers and nodded at Mickey.
Cindy stripped down to her g-string. Mickey offered her the garment and stepped back.
“I wear more to the beach.”
The Fairy Godmother clicked her tongue. “You wanted something more daring than Ariel?”
Nothing like fuelling the fire of female competition.
“It’s slutty!”
“No, darling, it’s fashion. Girls will want to be you, and the photographers will go wild.”
Nodding, Cindy twirled in the shimmery fabric.
Mickey raised his eyebrow.
“What? It worked when I gave the emperor new clothes.”

A lovely blending of tales

That pumpkin late is popping up everywhere on the internet and I can’t get it! I do love playing with fairy tales.
Thank’s, D.

I imagined the fairy godmother drinking whiskey instead of a latte.

Look at you writing fiction like a pro. Slutty fiction, but you’re moving in the right e̶r̶e̶c̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ direction.

Ha! This is delightful. I just love how you’ve merged the two stories. Emperor’s New Clothes is one of my favourites – it’s so eternally relevant. Cindy’s headed for a very interesting evening.

I have a feeling Cindy might pull it off. 😀 Fairy tales are fun to work with. Emperor’s New Clothes is as you said, eternally relevant. There is nothing quite like it.
Thanks, M.

I want the pumpkin spice latte too. A delightful metaphorical tale of our times.

Apparently they are selling it at Starbucks. No Starbucks where I am but it looks heavenly.

Dear Tannille,
Now there’s a twisted, if not refreshing take on old stories. Honestly, I don’t get the lure of pumpkin spice. Not my cup of coffee for sure. 😉 Entertaining story.

My initial thought was gross. But more and more people rave about it. I can’t get it here. The Fairy Godmother digs it.
Thanks, R.

Poor Cindy, she needs a new Fairy Godmother, perhaps one that is not addled on spiced drinks. She sounds like a latent alcoholic.

Caring for my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter, I am knee-deep in Disney princesses.
This was a welcome R-Rated version of an old favorite … a great change of pace!

Oh no. Not the sugary princesses. I suspect that’s why as adult I enjoy spicing fairy tales up — too much Disney!
Thanks TSS.
