It’s funny what becomes a tourist attraction. Dragon Hill the most unexpected. Nothing left but ruins and a quaint little town that offers tours, cashing in namesake. Ghosts of beasts said to haunt the land. Magic practitioners arrive in droves with the hope of resurrecting the ancient creatures; those who control the flame rule the world. The mentality lead to extinction eons ago. Rumour has it, bones rest within the hill. All they need is a spark of life. Fairytales or specs of truth? All the same, let sleeping dragons sleep, the wild uncontrollable.

The tour guide waved as the train departed and waited for new arrivals.

  1. Some things are best left undisturbed. I can imagine why the myths bring the visitors, though. King Arthur’s supposed castle (Tintagel) is just round the corner from me and it’s always full of visitors 🙂

    1. As an out sider point of view I’m in awe. I remember travelling the UK and being laughed at. The oldest building I had seen before was maybe 200 years old. The really old buildings I was amazed. All good fun 😀.

  2. to be honest, earlier, I saw only the train… didn’t even notice the ruins. What a wonderful capture of a tourist trap you’ve set up. 🙂 hehe! Love it!

  3. People need excitement and novelty in their dull lives. Magic and fairytales provide that. Plus tourists get some income and town a little business. Everyone wins. Nice story.

  4. I agree that we should let sleeping dragons sleep!
It is funny indeed the places that become tourist attractions. Anything to make a profit… but we all have to make a living, right?
An imaginative take on the prompt!
