“Should we?”
“It’s tempting. But the last time you threw someone overboard, they couldn’t swim. My ears still ring from the screaming. Let’s leave them alone. You got us into a lot of political trouble with that stunt.”
Coen looked at his wife with a devil-may-care grin. “And I’d do it again.”
“The feeling will pass, I promise. Let’s go. I have patients to see.”
Coen waved the boat goodbye with his orange-red fishtail. Flash. Flash. Flash.
The pair returned to their island home. News traveled fast — his tail became an internet sensation. Jude glared at him with her dagger in hand.
“I’ll sleep in the cold pond.”

Note:
My fishy couple are back. How could they not be with a prompt pic of a sailing boat? Coen and Judick also star in the flash fiction story, The Only Way is Nude (read here), and the novel I am working on. My creative motor has stalled stories never turn out as planned.
A nice fishy tale. Enjoyed it.

I think Coen needs to be careful – he seems itching for a clash of worlds…

Sounds like he’s looking for trouble. The question is which comes first – within his marriage or between worlds?

I think he may kill two fish with one spear. 😀

I don’t believe it. It’s clearly CGI/AI/Deepfake. Things work differently under the sea. On the land, it’s usually the one who’s in trouble who has to sleep “in the cold pond.”

I think Coen is a most mischievous sort. I think he deserves to sleep in the cold pond. Great last line! I look forward to more stories from Coen & Jude. 🙂

Dear Tannille,
I’m guessing that sleeping in the cold pond is akin to sleeping on the couch. 😉 Fun stuff.

Hi Tannille,
Great story and I’ll pop back later to read the previous one.
I haven’t responded to this week’s challenge. At least, not yet but I wanted to share a fascinating podcast with you about a sensational mystery which took place on NYD 1963 when a very successful CSIRO scientist, Dr Gilbert Bogle, was found dead and half naked beside the Lane Cove River in Sydney. Mrs Margaret Chandler was found dead and also partially naked closeby. Margaret’s husband worked at CSIRO with Bogle. The Chandler’s had an open marriage and her husband actually helped to organise their encounter but had left their home empty. Not unsurprisingly the husband got the blame but he had a watertight alibi. The case shocked Sydney and beyond and was the equivalent to the death of Azaria Chamberlain at the time. Anyway, Peter Butt put together a gripping podcast and a book and I thought you;’d enjoy it. I also think the characters in this case are very interesting to study.
Anyway, let me know your thought and don’t feel you have to look at it. I thought theere’s stuff that could be woven in somewhere.
