The old sea-themed restaurant, Sharks, sits on the docks. Its mascot hangs from the ceiling and its walls are covered with signs travellers “donated” from all over the world.

The smell of fish, beer, and salt fights for nostril dominance.

Out the back, the daily catch is being prepared.

Behind a hidden panel is a secret entrance. The space is full of discarded clothes and accessories. A place for the nudes to dress. Nearby, a tunnel of stairs leads to the ocean below. The tritons come and go as they please. Humans are none the wiser. Catering to the sea creatures keeps Sharks afloat.

Notes

I sat and pondered with this prompt image for a while, pesky 100 words. Ultimately, I expanded on The ImmorTales world (my novel world). The mer couple, Coen and Jude were cut but this is their playground. The pair feature in other flash fiction —

The Flip Off
The Only Way is Nude

I started writing on Medium a couple of months ago. It’s a blast and I’ve started making money for my writing after all these years. Your blog posts can be uploaded to Medium. If you would like to join the fun as a reader or writer click here. Damn, I sound like a dodgy commercial.
